Are we permitted to drive to Kangaroo Island?

Yes, conditions do apply.

You must never take the vehicle:

On any unsealed road.

  • Off road.
  • Drive at night-time.
  • Excess insurance is $3,300 for standard vehicles & $3,850 for larger vehicles and cannot be reduced.

Can anyone other than myself drive the car?

Only those named on the Rental Agreement are permitted to drive an Access vehicle. When collecting the vehicle, each driver must be listed on the Rental Agreement and they must present their drivers licence at time of collection.

A once off surcharge of $5.50 per day or a maximum of $27.50 will apply for one or many additional drivers.

Can I book additional extras or equipment?

Yes on request we can offer you the following extras or equipment for an $11 per day:

  • Baby Seats
  • Child Seats
  • Booster Seats
  • GPS Navigators

Can I book more than one vehicle at a time?

Yes you can. Simply complete each booking and you will receive a separate confirmation number for each booking.

Can I check rates online without making a booking?

Yes, you can use the Access website to check rates. All prices quoted on the Access Website are guaranteed.

Can I extend the rental period?

Extending the rental period is possible at the time of check-out or during the rental itself but you must notify us at least 2 hours prior to the expiration of the rental period. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment and an additional credit or debit card authorisation may be required. If you fail to request an extension the vehicle may be notified to the police as stolen.

Can I pay by cash?

If you do not have a valid credit card and are paying by cash/debit card then we will need to take a $1,000 security bond from you prior to renting vehicle.

Do you deliver?

Yes we can deliver and pickup to your Hotel/ Motel/ Airport if distance is within a 10 km radius from the Adelaide CBD.

Conditions apply: Delivery Monday – Friday (Weekends is subject to staff availability).

Does a vehicle have to be returned with a full tank?

The vehicle will be full of Petrol when you collect and will need to be re-filled on return. This will avoid any additional re-fuelling charges.

Does Access Offer One-way rentals?

Excess Reduction Waiver

Loss Damage Waiver Coverage includes an excess of $3,300.00 for classes ECMR, EBAR, ECAR, CDAR, FCAR, FWAR.

Loss Damage Waiver Coverage includes an excess of $3,850.00 for classes MSUV, PVAR & FVAR.

Excess Reduction Waiver (ERW) of $18.00 per day to reduce excess to $550 for classes ECMR, EBAR, ECAR, CDAR, FCAR, FWAR, MSUV, PVAR & FVAR.

Drivers under the age of 25 cannot take the Excess Reduction Waiver.

How old do I have to be to rent a vehicle?

All renters must be aged at 21+ years for standard vehicles, at the commencement of the rental.

For any driver that be the renter or an additional driver, aged 21 to 24 inclusive, an under age surcharge of $16.50 per day applies.

How will I know if my booking is confirmed?

When you make an online booking we will send you a booking confirmation by email. This includes your booking number, details of your pickup and return location, as well as the price and other useful information. We advise that you print it out and take it with you when picking up your car to speed up the process.

International Flights Only

We have experienced many flight delays on international flights recently.

Would you be kindly to contact us on (08 8340 0400) when you have arrived and exited the customs area and we will meet with you shortly at the Tourist Information Desk.

Is GST included in the price?

Yes, GST (goods and services tax) is included in all prices quoted.

Parking, speeding and traffic infringements

Parking, speeding and traffic infringements are the responsibility of the renter and incur an Access Rent A Car administrative fee of $18.70.

What are my obligations at the end of the rental period?

You must return the Vehicle to the rental station nominated in the Rental Agreement. You must also return it by the date and time shown in that Agreement.

Refuelled, reasonably clean condition and any damage reported. If returning earlier than half an hour you need to notify Access Rent A Car so they can collect it immediately without incurring any further parking fee to you.

What are your prohibited areas?

You are not permitted to drive in the areas of Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.

All of our vehicles must not be driven on any unsealed roads at all times.

What credit card can I use?

You can use all the major credit cards and debit cards, providing they have the Visa/MasterCard/American Express emblem/logo on them. It is important to note that the credit card holder must be present at the time of collection.

1.65% is calculated on the amount debited to your Visa/Master card.

4.95% is calculated on the amount debited to your American Express card.

What does ‘Airport Fee’ mean?

The Airport Fee applies to all Rentals collected from Adelaide Airport. All goods and services purchased or supplied from Adelaide Airport incur an additional charge. The Airport Fee charged is calculated at $18.70 per rental, which recovers Access Car parking costs.

What Driver’s License do I need to rent a vehicle?

Access recognises all current non-provisional and non-probationary Australian drivers licenses and current overseas licenses.

The required driver’s license must be in English with photo and produced at the commencement of the rental. Should the license be in another language or have no photo, an International Driving Permit must accompany it.

What happens if I have an accident?

Must notify Access immediately once all parties are safe and injured parties attended to. If incident involves a second driver in another vehicle, a police report must be obtained to go with the incident report form.

You must always remember to complete an incident report form, if an accident happens, giving a full account of the circumstances in which the accident happened and obtain details.

What happens if I return the car earlier than the return date shown in the rental agreement?

You may only have to pay for the actual rental days.

What happens if I return the car late?

If the vehicle is returned more than 59 minutes after the time set for its return in the Rental Agreement a full day’s rental will be charged.

What is the daily kilometre allowance?

Our standard rental rate includes 300km per day with an excess of $0.28 cents per kilometre thereafter. We can offer unlimited km on request.

What is the minimum hire period?

The minimum hire period is one day.

Where do I meet you at the Airport once I have arrived in Adelaide?

We meet clients at the information desk on the ground floor of the airport and our representative holds a name sign up. The customers pick up the car at the airport and return to the airport (where we advise them to lock the keys in the car).

Why is my flight number required when making a booking?

We offer a meet and greet service at the Adelaide Airport, by providing us with your flight number we will be able to track your arrival time and ensure that your vehicle will be ready for you once you arrive.
